Nick and Julie Stackpole are the husband and wife team that have owned and operated Stackpole’s Upholstery for almost 25 years in East Auckland. After completing his apprenticeship and Trade Certificate in Upholstery Nick Stackpole, started his own company working from his parent’s garage way back in the early 90’s. He has reupholstered just about every type of style and model of furniture since! Many clients come back to Nick time and time again, knowing that he will complete every job with the attention to detail and professional workmanship that only years of experience can produce.
‘I really enjoy working on a variety of furniture – old pieces and new – it makes for very satisfying work when you deliver furniture back to a client and they are grinning from ear to ear!,’ says Nick.
Nick’s wife Julie joined the business in the mid-nineties to apply her passion and natural skill for co-ordinating furnishings to create beautiful homes for her clients. A student of Nanette Cameron’s School of Interior Design she proved she was ready for the next step. A keen interest for learning more about textiles has led Julie to become a well-known expert in this field, and her knowledge is sort after by many peers within the industry. Now, Julie has her own interior design business that runs alongside to the Upholstery and drapery business.
‘For me, updating furnishings and interiors should be an enjoyable process, so I aim to take the stress out of choosing fabrics and styles and all the associated decisions. I know the right questions to ask and will find out what you like and dislike, get a feel for your personal style, and what will work best for you visually and practically. I then interpret this and come up with solutions to help guide you through the decision making process. You can then sit back and relax while we organise everything to happen behind the scenes ready for you to enjoy for years to come,’ says Julie.
